Commission - Try Walking in My Shoes

5:00 AM on a Sunday morning in the city, you tend to see a healthy mix of people – those unfortunate to be sleeping rough, party goers making their way home and those with the thankless task of working the weekend to name a few.

Our tale today shines a light on the latter of those people.

For Lola Taylor it was an early start, waiting for a bus that would take her to her job as a cleaner. She sat at the bus stop decked out in her uniform of a navy-blue housekeeper's dress with white lace up plimsols. It was a cold morning so she had her winter coat on over the top of it, unfortunately though she hadn't been able to button it for some time.

Lola had put on some weight over the past couple of years, a combination of a poor wage and poor eating habits had seen the formerly slim young woman plump up into a quite dowdy looking cleaner. The only clothes that fit her properly were her uniform and the sweats she lounged around her flat in. She spent her spare money on junk food and books, not seeing the point of getting a new coat if she could still fit into it. The way her belly pushed through the opening of her coat looked thoroughly pathetic, a fact that was not lost on Marcy Huffman and her friends.

Marcy and company had been out all night, dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Still decked out in glamourous dresses and heels, the girls were tired but still looked flawless. The girls still had a little buzz going from drinking all night and that translated to elevated bravery levels as well as an ignorance for how loud they were talking.

"Jesus Christ Lil, would you look at that sad dump truck?!" Asked Marcy of her friend, it was obvious to anyone with ears that she was referring to Lola.

"Honestly, if I ever get that big just put a bullet in me will ya?!"

The girl's obnoxious behaviour drew tuts and headshakes from others who were waiting for the bus but for Lola, all she could do was bury her head further in her book.

"I hope she's not on my bus, I wanna get home and it'd probably take two buses to haul her fat ass"

As fate would have it though, both Lola and Marcy boarded the same bus that morning. Marcy said her goodbyes to her friends and took a seat on the upper deck. The entire upper deck was empty save for one other person, Lola had gone upstairs in an attempt to escape her tormentor but that wasn't to be, thankfully though, the drunk girl seemed more occupied with her phone than with further harassing Lola.

Lola couldn't help but gaze at the girl from over her book, oh how she wished she still looked that slim, if only she could have a figure like that again life would be so much better. Lola's thoughts turned to the book she was reading, it was a hokey little thing she'd picked up in a charity shop for 50p – Chants & Incantations for a Better You, she had just wanted something cheap to read on her commute but now she was wishing that these things actually worked. She had folded the page on one in particular incantation – apparently it was supposed to transfer weight between the caster and a willing subject "who on earth would willingly take on all my weight?!" Thought Lola but then she was struck with a strange idea.

Lola made her way down the bus and took a seat opposite Marcy.

"Hi" was a simple greeting that was ignored by Marcy, "Hello?"

Marcy had heard enough already, "listen fatso, I've no interest in chatting to you on my way home so piss off will ya?"

Lola expected such a backlash but continued on unperturbed, "I'm on my way to work"

"Don't care"

"I work as a cleaner"

"Still don't care"

"It's hungry work, I bought these for a pre-work snack" she said as she produced a tube of Pringles

"No wonder you're so fat" sniggered Marcy

"I don't mind being fat" lied Lola "You ever been fat?"

"Do I look like I've ever been fat?!" Spat Marcy

"I guess not" replied Lola "It's great fun, get to eat whatever I want ya know"

"Oh, good for you"

"You should try it, you might like it"

"I'm sure I prefer having a slim figure to making a pig of myself"

"You want to know what I think?" Asked Lola

"No not really"

"I think deep down you'd like to be as big and fat as me but you can't so you take the piss out of big people because secretly you want to be fat"

"What?!" Appalled at the ludicrous nature of Lola's proclamation, Marcy launched into a sarcastic diatribe - "Oh yeah, I wish I was a big fat ass just like you, then I could gorge myself on junk food as much as I liked and just keep on getting fatter and fatter" this last part was said as she snatched the Pringle out of Lola's hand and ate it messily.

Lola couldn't have planned it more perfectly, Marcy's speech – be it sarcastic or not had acted as a verbal wish to gain weight and as she munched on the potato product Lola read aloud the short incantation. Soon Marcy was in a trance like state and Lola was busy feeding her the entire tube of Pringles.

Had anyone else been on that top deck they would've been treated to a spectacle – a fat, dumpy cleaner busily feeding what looked like a zombified party girl. Of course, that was only the start, as Marcy's figure swelled Lola's shrank.

"That's it bitch, keep on eating these salty treats soon you'll be just like how I used to look" she could scarcely believe this was actually working!

By the time Lola was done feeding Marcy they looked quite a sight – Marcy's party dress looked fit to burst and she was quite lucky it was mainly lycra, Lola on the other hand was swimming in her uniform.

"Hey wake up tubby" laughed Lola

"What.... what did you do to me?!" Screamed Marcy

"Not so loud, people will think you're crazy"

"You witch! Change me back this instant!" Spat the suddenly sober girl

"Nah I don't think so, people like you don't deserve to be slim and popular, let's see how you deal with life as a fatty"

"No! Please, I'm sorry for being a bitch to you"

"Of course you are, because you got your comeuppance. Oh, I am going to love being slim again! Maybe when I see you've learned your lesson I'll take back all that fat but until then enjoy living my life!" And with that Lola made her way towards the stairs but not before throwing her old winter coat at Marcy - "cover yourself up will ya? You're disgusting!"

Marcy was in fits of tears all the way home, she attempted to sneak past the doorman of her apartment building for fear of being recognised or rather being unrecognisable but she would have no such luck.

"Good morning Ms. Huffman" called out the doorman

"Oh good morning Perry" sniffled Marcy

"Bad night?"

"Something like that"

"Well at least you have Sunday to recover"

Marcy was taken aback by how nonchalant the doorman was

"Do you not see anything different about me Perry?"

"I don't think so Ms, new hair maybe?"

"Yeah that's it" replied a bewildered Marcy

"Very nice it is too, see you later Ms. Huffman"

Back in her apartment she surveyed the damage to her figure. A spongy potbelly was her new most prominent feature, jutting out past swollen tits. Her ass had grown proportionately and sat above thick thighs. A step on the scale told her she had been given 120lbs of fat from that horrid cleaner girl.

She spent weeks dieting and hitting the gym as hard as she could but she could never seem to lose a single pound. Eventually she gave in and resigned herself to the life of a fat girl.

The thing was, no-one in Marcy's life saw her as any different, like she had always been this blimp of a girl, they couldn't explain why she needed to buy an entirely new wardrobe but no one seemed to think much of it, she'd always been big Marcy.

But Marcy knew. For months she caught that same bus hoping to run into that cleaner girl again but she never did. Eventually Marcy stopped looking, life went on as normal, the only difference was that Marcy was a lot more tolerant of big people – after all, she was one.

She thought she might have seen the girl years later but this girl was huge and positively pouring out of her cleaning uniform.

She decided to wait for the next bus just in case.
